So... I got a package in the mail yesterday, but rather than getting the scissors from the kitchen, or (god forbid!) just using my hands to open the package, I just flipped open my laptop, and went to Amazon to see what I had ordered....

You could've tried to claim that you were concerned that you hadn't actually ordered the package and didn't want to open it just to have to seal it back up before sending it back.
There are ways to keep your inner geek from becoming too much of an outer geek.
My most recent "you know you're a geek when" moment was when I was severely tempted to actually order (and more importantly ... actually wear) this t-shirt: http://www.goodstorm.com/item/pbutler/what_would_bruce_schneier_do
Hah, I do this with stuff from eBay. I usually get several packages a day that I have to go through and try and match the addresses on the packages to the seller's locations. Then I stick the box on a shelf and don't ever open it. Do I make ++geek ?
And I have the t-qualizer shirt. I think it's absolute crap. I wish ThinkGeek had a 'reviews' section so I could warn others. The sensitivity (not adjustible) is WAY too low. And it's not even a graphic equalizer (which they don't tell you), it's just a VU meter printed to look like an equalizer. Disappointing. Nothing worse than looking like a poser geek with a VU meter dressed up to look like a graphic equalizer.

good advice!
And the wwbsd t-shirt is pretty chic! (er... in the right circles) - but my new favorite geek "t" is the t-qualizer line... (courtesy of geek rock)
