Blog-flog

I've been recieving a fair amount of grief at the office for the Google Ads that accompany my site. One could say that I've been getting blog-flogged :) (obviously inspired choice of words, perhaps, but I'm trying to coin a new phrase again :))

Examples of
AdSense enticements to visitors of my blog:
- Uninstall AOL
- Offshoring and Outsourcing
- Netzero ISP
- Careers in DC and VA

Not as bad as
this, but still...

Ah, well.

I, for one,
welcome our new thought overlords. God bless, and please pass the PageRank.

  4. It does seem kind of odd, but I do detect a bit of anti-AOL snetiment in your blog. Feom not using AOL product to general complaints. It would be nice to see you praise your own products more.

  5. Wow - *MY* blog has an anti-AOL sentiment?

I use pretty much all of the AOL products for all sorts stuff: mail - client, waol, and web, IM - client and AIM express, browser (AOL Explorer), Safety Center, video, music, portal, finance, etc), though, if I consider COMMON services that I consume in my life that AOL offers.... well, its true I don't use AOL Journals, AOL Pictures, or AOL Search regularly.

That's not an indictment of those products - for a variety of different reasons they're just not sticky FOR ME. That may change, and I certainly play with them regularly - as I've said in the past, not every product we build is targeted at every user; and, get this, that's OK :)

For the most part, I don't really do product reviews, endorsements or commentary here - I try to talk about technology choices, business trends, industry observations, and code (with the occasional joke or slice-of-my-life thing)

  7. u shud have a policy never to reply to anons. I have noticed a trend with anon comments - they are sometimes malicious and rude. so if they are too chicken to put in a name i think they can be ignored - deleted even.

  8. Yeah, there's a reason they call it "anonymous coward" on slashdot. Easy to take potshots from the cheap seats - tougher to stand behind your words when you're on the court playing.

    s'okay - I'm a big boy.

Btw, roopa, i like your banner contest winner :)
